Tree Surgeon

tree surgeonOakapple Landscapes, tree surgeons Hertfordshire, is the longest established tree care company in St Albans, a family run business for over 35 years. Using the latest equipment and techniques our tree surgeons work according to the latest British Standards for tree surgery.

Our tree surgery services include:

Stump grinding

Our tree surgeons use a stump grinder or stump cutter which is a power tool or equipment attachment that removes tree stumps by means of a rotating cutting disc that chips away the wood. Stump grinders can be the size of a lawn mower or as large as truck.

Hedge trimming

Our tree surgeons trim, shape and tidy all types of hedges, including ornamental & conifer.

Crown reduction

Our tree surgeons will use crown reduction with the aim of making cuts so that the foliage is left intact on the outer edge of the new, smaller canopy ideally, pruning cuts should not be evident when you stand back from the tree after pruning.

Crown thinning

Our tree surgeons perform crown thinning to allow more light through to the crown without altering the overall shape and size of the tree. Crossing or rubbing branches are removed together with diseased wood. The tree is then pruned to reduce the crown density whilst retaining a natural shape.

Dead wooding

This is where branches have died within a tree and can become dangerous. These branches could then possibly fall over time or during periods of high winds and storms. If dead branches are left untreated, they will affect the overall health of the tree as rot can set in and spread to healthy areas. <

Hazard and disease identification

Regular tree inspection will ensure that any defects and hazards can be identified; appropriate remedial action can then be recommended and undertaken. If the trees are growing in a location where there is potential for damage or injury, such as parks, gardens, footpaths, car parks or roads, it is particularly important to inspect trees regularly.

Felling

Felling trees safely requires us to survey the site and establish the best method to fell the tree and avoid damage to the surrounding areas. There are many reasons that a tree may need t be felled, such as If a tree has suffered from storm damage and the damage cannot be saved by using other pruning techniques, then the tree will have to be felled using the correct skills and equipment.

Pollarding

Pollarding, a pruning system involving the removal of the upper branches of a tree, promotes a dense head of foliage and branches. It is an effective way of reducing the amount of shade cast by trees, to thin the crown, keep the tree a comfortable size for their local environment
